Outer Spaced

Outer Spaced

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

The older I get

The brighter the sun

Appears to my

Fading vision.

When I close my eyes

The light becomes

Almost blinding.

The wiser I believe

I have become

The wider the man in the moon’s smile appears

To my thoughts.

Every philosophy

That I conceive

Turns into the jester’s offspring.

Whenever there is

A solar eclipse

In the memories

I call my world

There is a flash of laughing

As a shooting star

Streaks across my soul,

Crashing into my heart…

Leaving a crater big enough

To fill the void.

Dale, I think this to be one of the best poems you have ever written as it is chock full of wisdom and expressions of that which you view as life, and the meaning of it, the fragility of it, the joy of it! This is a favorite of mine!! I floated along on a falling star as I read it.

Thank you so much.
I love this! As we get older things do become more intense...memories, feelings, the beauty of the heavens and nature. It is beautiful to be able to laugh at oneself and realize that all our theories, opinions, successes, and failures are so small in the light of that beautiful sun. Just my take and I like it! :)

Thank you for the wonderful interpretation of my poem .
"The older I get, the brighter the sun..." --- Perhaps, it's because we're that much closer to heaven.

My eyes were reading ahead of you and I could have sworn you wrote, "The wiser I become, the wider I become." LOL! I had to re-read so as not to place my words over your own. You know ... it's that blinding sun thing. :-)

Life is full of hopefulness but never more so than when we're older.

You are correct about that line... thank you so much for the feedback.
To the planets that came about, long before us, we must seem as fools...
Thinking we are too old, for this or that.....

Well written, and well understood ..

ONE OF YOUR BEST...WELL DONE !!!
The dichotomy of that crater-like emptiness and the wealth of life that should fill it… Aren’t we all fools to let the laughter get away, believing we gain wisdom, but leave that emptiness?

yvw :)
i love the paradox of a crater big enough to fill the void...good memories...the almost blinding light, the philosophies that become jester's offspring...we think we are getting wiser as we get older, but maybe we are just playing the fool..
