Evolution Of The Four Horsemen

Evolution Of The Four Horsemen

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Just some strong thoughts I have

"

Unleashed through the gates of a scroll

The product of man’s destructive force

Continuing their ride from decade to decade

Gaining momentum from all the blood sweat and tears

Of those who have no choice but to serve you.

The first riding in on his white horse

I’m only guessing it’s to look like the hero

All the while you use your bow and arrow to conquer

Everything your evil heart desires

And wearing that crown like you’re the King

Of knowing what best for the world.

Out of the shadows comes the second

On a horse of red to hide the blood you shed

With that mighty sword held so high

Letting us think war is the only way

But deep inside your twisted mind

It’s a game of revenge with money on the side.

Now here comes the one riding his black horse

With that scale always tipped one way

Weighted down with money, power and fame

Not giving justice a chance to balance

So I guess the little guy now pays for your crime

Since he can’t afford anything else.

We can’t forget the one who brings up the rear

Riding on a horse so pale since death is near

As a great nation built on truth, justice and freedom

Slowly loses its heartbeat and gasps for air

With the last chance being life support

Until the power goes ___________OUT.

I guess so much for the separation of church and state

As you can plainly see that The Four Horseman

That started from biblical times has evolved

Into a Government thing.

This one really got me thinking. There seems to be so many indirect things mentioned here. I'll have to read it again. Great write! Thanks :) Have a merry Christmas!

" Unleashed through the gate of a scroll

I like this line, turns the focus back on man, instead of it being beyond our power.
(and so we do nothing)
There are some great thoughts in here, some truly inspired as well .
My take the 4 horseman a program we can turn off anytime, but we won't beacuse we have to give something up.
Fame Power Money Celebrity and you cover all the bases

Powerful stuff here. You are showing the rise from hell through the political arena. Well done and expressed.

I am in awe of this piece Dale, what a great job you did in the description of each horseman, the way you have used them to fit your own thought process, allowing the reader to ponder these thoughts. Great job my friend.

This is a great write, and you put in a good point about the
church and state...our lives being destined to only a memory.
I love the visual here, the colors, the flow of the wind when one rides a
horse. AD

I really like this poem.
What makes it so good is that it is true
And the words you use are so strong.

Got to the above and suddenly realised you'd manipulated the Apocalyptic thought! Must continue re-reading now... Yes, my thoughts were correct!

What a clever, clever use of the Four Horseman, a conversion with a difference, taking them into the modern day, the modern way, the oh so awful way.

The additional hits, such as the ______ OUT makes one sit up, focus hard - well, it did me! While you liken the biblical to the governmental .. could I mention that we derive much beauty, knowledge and guidance from the bible but, governments give with neither hand but grab with both. Just a thought - lol

This is fine, fine writing, well constructed in the literary sense but also touched with emotion.

That was quite an interesting, thought-provoking piece you've created there. I've always thought of them otherwise, nothing compared to what you've thought of. Sure, everybody got their own opinions on what they think about those four horsemen. Somehow, I really enjoyed what you've written there...

So, it's all great there and keep on writing...
