The Weatherman

The Weatherman

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

I could see the dark clouds before they came

Hovering over me and darkening my day.

Making my vision on everything so dreary

Till nothing in nature looked beautiful.

I could smell the rain before it fell

Weighing me down in its torrential fury

Soaking my burdens till they are to heavy

To be carried around anymore.

I could feel those bitter northern winds

Slapping me in the face with primal force

Making me feel like I was being punished

For all of mankind’s sins.

Though I sensed this storm coming

Like the weatherman

I never predicted

It would actually happen.

Though I heard the words goodbye

Like thunder rumbling in my heart

When the words came

It was like lightening electrocuting  my soul.

Dale this poem has touched my heart and soul like no other you have written.
It is breathtakingly beautiful and at the same time heart wrenching.
In the short time that I have been a reader of your poetry I have found among your many works poems that illuminate our relationship to others, poems that encourage compassion, create a sense of wonder, or sanction the concept " We are all in this together," Some of your poems make us ponder why we are here...... or shock us into recognizing a new truth, provide a new perspective or a new way to percieve the universe.
What a gift your poetry is ! With your words you open a floodgate of emotions.
This is going into my favorites along with your many others.
As Lisette said, there is always a rainbow at the end of a rain shower.

Wonderful write, knowing in our hearts that something is about to happen, doesn't prepare us for the actual event. "It was like lightening electrocuting my soul" love this line" :)

People can be just as unpredictable as the weather and I believe you have presented that case quite nicely here!! I loved the flow and words chosen!! Fantastic write!!

Knowing something will happen doesn't make the event any less painful when it occurs... I love the comparison of hurt to weather. Weather is unpredictable, as are people sometimes. This was really powerful and super relatable. Great job!

Your poet's pen is certainly flowing and how magnificently it writes. All the emotional power and fury that erupt from the storm of love hits the reader with gale force winds and entices them to walk every step of the way with you through this dark and ominous storm. They may even feel a slight jolt from that bolt of lightning. How well you describe the torrential outpouring of emotions during the tempest of love. A darkly magnificent piece of word artistry.

To watch that first rose bloom from spring.. the first colour from that of my favorite flower.. amidst a background of brown and green.. contrasting visions darkness can bring.. when you focus on the colour that does exist of precious things. Growing up I had nothing.. I mean I had a rag doll (only real type of doll I ever liked.. cause it was a soft Ragedy Ann).. but from poverty.. found the power to dream of great things.. writing.. music.. absorbed the nature around me. If you go to a poor country.. those children are smiling with the tiniest of generosities given.. a flower.. a piece of paper.. they are greatful and do not take anything in life for granted.

There is always a rainbow at the end of a rain shower when the sun comes out.. somewhere.. such sadness can be felt at the wake of the clouds coming in.. but then it does not remain. Goodbyes are hard.. I mean I can't even say the word when it is really goodbye.. Goodbyes are not forever .. as I am a believer! I have spirituality.. I embrace the darkness..and even you helped me in dark times to remember these things.. and for that I thank you! This piece will be kept in favorites to remind me that there can't be light without dark.. and to learn to love it, embrace it again.. I loved this piece! =)

Wow Dale...... what a unique way to compare the sensation of loss, and upheaval we feel when someone we love leaves us....this is really a wonderful analogy!...and your ending is especially "charged"...(forgive the pun)..........."it was like lightning electrocuting my soul"...POWERFUL!
