The Weatherman

The Weatherman

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

I could see the dark clouds before they came

Hovering over me and darkening my day.

Making my vision on everything so dreary

Till nothing in nature looked beautiful.

I could smell the rain before it fell

Weighing me down in its torrential fury

Soaking my burdens till they are to heavy

To be carried around anymore.

I could feel those bitter northern winds

Slapping me in the face with primal force

Making me feel like I was being punished

For all of mankind’s sins.

Though I sensed this storm coming

Like the weatherman

I never predicted

It would actually happen.

Though I heard the words goodbye

Like thunder rumbling in my heart

When the words came

It was like lightening electrocuting  my soul.

Dale this poem has touched my heart and soul like no other you have written.
It is breathtakingly beautiful and at the same time heart wrenching.
In the short time that I have been a reader of your poetry I have found among your many works poems that illuminate our relationship to others, poems that encourage compassion, create a sense of wonder, or sanction the concept " We are all in this together," Some of your poems make us ponder why we are here...... or shock us into recognizing a new truth, provide a new perspective or a new way to percieve the universe.
What a gift your poetry is ! With your words you open a floodgate of emotions.
This is going into my favorites along with your many others.
As Lisette said, there is always a rainbow at the end of a rain shower.

A sense of foreboding. Something beautiful, sinister, eerie, is lingering in the distance, and you're wondering what it could possibly be. Then it all comes crashing down.

Beautiful metaphor. I have to say, this is one of my absolute favorites of yours that you've written.

Nice job! I didn't know what to expect with this one. I liked this stanza really well:

Though I sensed this storm coming
Like the weatherman
I never predicted
It would actually happen

Great job on the whole poem. Its full of emotion and sadness that pulls the reader in.

honey, you are a wonderful poet.... wonderful because the feeling of your words display our own reactions and distractions....

the last part of this reminded me of a don mclean song..."empty chairs" from the "american pie" album... every song on that album is perfect in my opinion...

the verse that sang in my head when i read the end...

"morning comes and morning goes
with no regret
and evening brings the memories
i can't forget
empty rooms that echo as i climb the stairs
and empty clothes that drape and fall
on empty chairs

and i wonder if you know
that i never understood
that although you said you'd go
until you did....
i never thought you would"

I was never big on poetry, i'll admit. But this poem really touched me, especially knowing your background. You have opened my eyes, so thank you.
