A Sacred Haunting

A Sacred Haunting

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

She calls my name with sincerity,

My feet are blocks of solid fear.

She cries out my name with hope,

My arms are heavy with doubt.

She screams my name with desperation,

My reflection is tinted by lies.

She is the ghost

That haunts my grave.

Wow. So few words yet so many images and thoughts. Regrets of what could've or should've been given, or perhaps what someone needed that you just couldn't offer. Maybe even the "ghost" was the one that was unreasonably expectiong too much or being unrealistic making the other person feel guilty eventhough they weren't. Very unsettling feeling with this. Excellent piece!

I really like the title you chose. it sounds epic...She is sincere, hopeful, desperate and who lies she or he?
A good poem with many thoughts to take from it.

Great expressions here: feet are blocks of solid fear: arms heavy with doubt. Fear of commitment? Doubt that this is the one, Lies, not being honest with yourself or the other person. The reader can get what they individually want from this timeless jewel!

This reads like a story in such few lines. As I read this...I felt its mood...I love that line my feet are blocks of solid fear...this says so much about relationships, the doubt, the fear, lies desperation, hope...and the aftermath that haunts...an excellent piece that makes the reader stop and say wow...oh and that title is quite clever...
