The Heart Song

The Heart Song

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Lyrics for an upbeat song...

"

Hey man

Stand on up

And walk the dirty floor

Before the dust

Becomes quicksand.

Come on

Raise your arms

In the name of victory

Until gravity

Has no say.

Stop digging a grave

With a shovel without your name.

Join me in a song

To accompany the hearts melody

“I will not lay down and die

until I am actually dead.”

Listen up

Without prejudice

So the whole truth

Doesn’t fall upon

Deaf ears.

Don’t stop

Believing in

What naturally flows

From the gut

To your soul.

Stop digging a grave

With a shovel without your name.

Join me in a song

To accompany the hearts melody

“I will not lay down and die

until I am actually dead.”

Keep on learning,

Keep on teaching

For the circle of life

Has no end.

Stop digging a grave

With a shovel without your name.

Join me in a song

To accompany the hearts melody

“I will not lay down and die

until I am actually dead.”

Over the years I have seen such a growth in your poetry. I love this one, Cowboy.

Uplifting with a touch of wisdom and a sense for living, just your style!
I like the repetition for the chorus- it really reinforces the whole point... I will not lay down and die until I am actually dead... it reminds me of a song that literally has saved me by My Chemical Romance (yes it's an odd band!) but the line that always reverberated in my head was "I am not afraid to keep on living, I am not afraid to walk this world alone."
Happy Easter!

Depression sufferers need to sing this song. Better yet write it on every mirror...so that it can be ingrained into their very being. Hell cowboy...I'll write it on my own mirror. It's a little pep talk I might need some day...I needed this a few months ago actually...but better late than never my friend.

“I will not lay down and die
until I am actually dead.”
This is good poetry and music. I like your thoughts and the desire of this poem. All of us need to come alive and not follow the rules of people with no concern for the real people. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

Very lyrical...kicks a*s in a positive way. "Come on
Raise your arms
In the name of victory
Until gravity
Has no say."
Never say die!!!
