I Am All Facebooked Up

My sarcasm is on the loose and my metaphors are running amok. Psssst, before you read it let me tell you a little secret. Come closer… the poem has nothing to do with Facebook :)

Tag me in the newsfeed you shared

And I will hide it from my timeline,

For I speak from my heart, not the media’s voice

 

Like my photo if you like

But leaving a comment

Would be in vain, for all my friends

Will form their own opinions.

 

Invite me to play a game,

I will respectfully decline every time

Cause if we are not face to face

I cannot tell if you are

A gracious loser or humble winner,

And therefore deserving

Of taking up my personal time.

 

You may wonder why

I put all this into words for all to see,

Cause this damn website

Keeps asking what is on my mind

Even when I have nothing to say.

Yeah I use to hate facebook and all that drama but what I love is being able to stay in touch with friends and family and my old school teachers like Mrs. Little my literature teacher who first noticed my poetry I had forgot my notebook in class she opened it to see who's it was and read some of my poetry told me she was also a poet gave me a signed copy of her book that I still have to this day a month or two later she surprised me ... Handed me another book said to look at page um I can't remember lol and there was my poem Sentenced To Death that she entered into a contest and it won and got published she was the only one in my life at that time to encourage me and saw talent in me

I love how poetry brings up old memory thanks for that ... I loved the humor in this piece I liked how it told a story

Some things as the narrator said deserve our time and personal space and some don't. Bravo. Never been a fan of facebook....:)........

i was on facebook for three years and forgot i was...tried to sign up again...ugh.
once on i realized my mistake...and thank goodness i got away from it for good.
i know folks like it, i just am not interested in having 300 friends i have never met and who could really care less if i just walked my dog.

i "like" this poem, but not in a facebook way....more of a writerscafe way.
