I Dare You

I Dare You

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

I dare you to come swimming

In the deep end of the pool

With me as the only lifeguard.

I dare you to look deep in my eyes

Seeing things no one else sees,

From all my hopes and dreams

To my darkest secrets.

I dare you to put your head on my shoulders

And tell me all your troubles and fears

Letting me help you even though

You’re strong enough to.

I dare you to hold my hand

Walking so close together

That no one else in the world

Can come between us.

I dare you to allow your heart

To get entangled in mine

Like our bodies do

Most every night.

I know I’m asking a lot of you dear

But if you’re ready and willing

To accept these challenges

Laid out before you

Then there’s one more thing

That I need to know your love is true

Simply stated… I dare you to dare me too.

Trust is often the hardest thing to give, and once again I think that "The Phoenix" has written a gem. My poems have been so bitter lately, but yours have this sweetness to them. Its nice, and I like the line, "I dare you to allow your heart to become entangled with mine." We all want to be entangled at the end of it all, don't we?

Such a provoking tease - daring someone to love you and let you love them more. I like the playfulness and depth of this. Wonderful work. I hope your lady takes you up on that dare.

Another sweet one from you. There wasn't much rhyme or rhythm, but it was still heartfelt. You are very much in love with this girl and it shows :)
" even though your strong enough too. " did you want to put too or to? It wasn't clear. Nice write. :)

How incredibly beautiful and touching. Daring someone to put their complete love and trust in you. This is so sweet, if someone wrote something like that for me I think it would probably work. lol : )

Lovely piece, Dale. The first stanza is impressive in its metaphorical connotation.

'swimming in the deep end of the pool.'

Repetition emphasizes theme quite well.

The final line,'I dare you to dare me too.', allows for a twist that you incorporate so
well.

Exquisite.

Love,
Tami

Wow! Being a person who never can let down a dare this was awesome! The flow of this was perfect...it read smoothly to the point of sliding around me and taking me whole!
It really is a challenge to allow yourself to be that to someone so the dares are exactly how it feels (OK that doesn't exactly make sense but I'm sure you get what I mean) Well done!!

I dare you
to allow your heart
to get entangled with mine
like our bodies do
most every night.
(okay, my favorite)

Very nice heart words...I suppose you too were one of "those-guys?" lol!
Thank you for sharing this is a really beautiful statement of love...
