I Dare You

I Dare You

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

I dare you to come swimming

In the deep end of the pool

With me as the only lifeguard.

I dare you to look deep in my eyes

Seeing things no one else sees,

From all my hopes and dreams

To my darkest secrets.

I dare you to put your head on my shoulders

And tell me all your troubles and fears

Letting me help you even though

You’re strong enough to.

I dare you to hold my hand

Walking so close together

That no one else in the world

Can come between us.

I dare you to allow your heart

To get entangled in mine

Like our bodies do

Most every night.

I know I’m asking a lot of you dear

But if you’re ready and willing

To accept these challenges

Laid out before you

Then there’s one more thing

That I need to know your love is true

Simply stated… I dare you to dare me too.

Trust is often the hardest thing to give, and once again I think that "The Phoenix" has written a gem. My poems have been so bitter lately, but yours have this sweetness to them. Its nice, and I like the line, "I dare you to allow your heart to become entangled with mine." We all want to be entangled at the end of it all, don't we?

Excellence! I loved the passion and sincerity. As I read it I could tell you truly meant it and it wasn't just another piece of writing.

Fav part:
"I dare you
to hold my hand
and walk so close together
that no one in the world
can come between us."

This seems to me to be the biggest point of destruction in relationships these days...but only because we "allow" it to happen. Accountablility is often seen as jealousy and suffocation.

Great write Dale!

Oh wow, I'm now in love with this one. It's going in my favs. The thoughts, feelings, wants being expressed here, just wonderful and sensitive... and would melt just about any girl's heart!

I dare you
to look deep in my eyes
seeing things no one else sees,
from all that I dream
to my darkest secrets.

I dare you
to put your head on my shoulder,
tell me your troubles and fears
allowing me to help you
even though your strong enough too.

I absolutely adore these two stanzas. They get to me, they read me. This is one piece to be proud of... expressing that great big leap you take when you have a new relationship that you want to last...

thanks for sharing.

DALE!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

I dare you
to put your head on my shoulder,
tell me your troubles and fears
allowing me to help you
even though your strong enough too.

I love this stanza! I know a lot of girls who would love to hear this said to them. One small thing, in the last line it should be "you're" instead of "your". Tiny thing though and it did not interrupt the beauty and sincerity of the poem. Thank you Dale!

So important in true love is the challenge of one another to become better people. As you wisely articulate, it must come from both ways and go both ways. It shows you care for someone to dare them. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you for sharing it with me.
