Car Bombs

Car Bombs

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

written straight through unedited

"

Antitank rockets
used as car bombs
had a distinct sound
like Allah's hammer
smashing the ground
Not like C4
Or antitank mines
Not like those kind
Explosions and rounds
had different sounds
Airstrikes were different
they were your guys
even when they landed
really close by
rattle your head
beat up your brain
concussions a plenty
 ruptured ear veins

The women they wailed
It was a cultural thing
expressing their grief
What America brings
It was f*****g unnerving
I tell you no lies
You wanted to shoot them
You want them to die
It was hard to feel sorry
They were killing Marines
We shouldn't have been there
but that meant nothing
It was us verses them
it was basic as f**k
we had the one up
they were s**t out of luck
We got to leave
They had to stay
I'm mostly indifferent
I'm coping that way
Cherish your moments
Cherish your dreams
life is precarious
not what it seems
You have no clue
how lucky you are
to live in a world
with no car bombs

Having read two of your lighter writes just before this, this really smacked me in the face. Seeing this piece, riddled with brutal realities of a world beyond my own and life in a hellacious nation, is eye-opening and downright frightening. You executed this bluntly, with no flaunty rhyme scheme or panache. Just the brutal truth, which is how this should be displayed. Well done my friend. Write on.

Thank you will
See, you're not always about bringing the laughs, Mark.
This may have been written straight through, but it is deep, profound, and full of harsh truths. Excellent penning!

Thank you Sarah
With all the bitching and moaning we have to hear about this country and how bad things are, this is a good reminder that hits the reader in the stomach and wakes us up. Great write!

I am both proud and humbled to be an American. The things we don't have to go through. We truly are a clueless people. sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes its not.
Im mostly indifferent, I'm coping that way. That's a heavy statement.

How graphic, as always, and how sorrowing to know this exists. You always bring to reality the grief inflicted by war, and you never fail to show how lucky we are to have been born or have been accustomed to peaceful society. Well done.

Ya... just ya. We live in a paradise 99 % of humanity that has ever lived can hardly dream about. Will it last? If it does, it will be because of people like you Mark. Thank you for your service.

God Baby, I feel as though I just got punched in the gut, you write this stuff with a vengeance and make it all too real for those of us that haven't lived it...outstanding.
