The Buddha's Smile

The Buddha's Smile

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

Something I need to look into

"
When the Buddha smiles
Claws on my soul slip away
But I don't know why

I seriously need to look into this Buddhist thing. I saw that movie "Little Buddha" about the little blonde kid in Seattle the Tibetan monks thought were the reincarnation of their Dali Lama. It wasn't the reincarnation, mythological story of Siddhartha that got to me, it was the monks acceptance of everything and the incredible peace they emanated. Same deal with the Dali Lama. I don't think I've ever seen a more happy go lucky public figure with that amount of child like charm in my life and man has he gotten his fair share of stress. Sometimes I think we're the ones that are bat shit crazy and they're the one's who've got it all figured out. Just a hunch I guess. Peace boys and girls

"claws on my soul slip away" - such wonderful imagery - to let the claws slip and see the beauty and serenity in the world. Sounds lovely to me!

That's what I'm saying
Oeace to you, Baby R. And remember this:

"Govern the lips...As they were palace doors, the King within...Tranquil, fair and courteous be all speech...which from that prescence win..."

Sounds like sage advice
I have checked aout a Buddhist Monestry close by to home. I'm not practicing but visit there often, listen to readings and discussions and talk to monks where I can. The place is amazing and has helped me immensly find many things out about myself. I was very skeptical at the start but who wouild have thought that a peacfeul way of life could be so helpful....amazing.

I think you're right.
When my niece looks up at me, smiles at me, giggles, hugs me, and tells me she loves me there is nothing in this world that ever compares.. it doesn't matter how bad things have been, all is right in my soul.. it is like a light that shines inside me that warms inside out.. a weight is lifted.... that is what your piece made me think of... that feeling.. those "claws" coming out.. that poison that society and life feeds you, gone... renewed, refreshed.. inner peace is such a powerful thing, but many don't know how to achieve it.. Something so simple can make life that much more beautiful.. some people through time have figured out the how and whys.. It is inspiring, moving, and motivational when we are able to witness those honest, kind, loving souls that have figured it out and allow the world to see. Those who never let the evils and hardships darken their soul or their generosity to others.. very moving, thought-provoking piece. well done.
