Convenience

Convenience

A Poem by Nicole Doherty

You say,
"I miss you so much, guess what happened today";
You give me open-ended sentences,
I've got nothing to say.

You say,
"I heard this song earlier, thought you would like it";
My heavy eyes glance at the clock,
it's 4 am, and you're just lonely.

The illusion of compassion,
the impression of consideration;
I should be feeling wanted,
I should be feeling needed,

Yet the only thing I hear
when I get a text or call, is
"The only times I say I miss you
are when no one seems to care;
plus when the clock ticks on past midnight,
you're just the only one there."

About
Hi! I'm Nicole and I'm a 19 year old college sophomore in New Jersey that's too emotionally invested in The Strokes. I like music, baseball and cool people. I'm a mediocre writer with way too much to .. more..
