Battle Scars

Battle Scars

A Poem by Nicole Doherty

I was too busy fighting
for everyone else
that I never noticed
nobody fighting for me
until I jumped on the front lines
as the shots were being fired,
daggers being thrown,
when I turned to yell “Charge!”,
but instead was met
with the ghosts of those
I swore were there before;
the ghosts of those
I’d been fighting for.

Another excellent write from you Nicole. I love the fact that I can relate to this poem and I'm sure others can too. Those who you thought had your back, but really didn't. Write on Nicole
