The Road

The Road

A Poem by Doreen
"

...

"

Darkened skies,

like crushed blue velvet,

carry the storm.

Lightning strikes

illuminating, briefly, what we don’t

wish to see.

Thunder rumbles -

a reminder of what was

and what is to come.

Engorged Drops (icy malevolence)

shatter

on skin already hardened

by life’s injustices.

The road is

long.

The road is long. This is great writing. The whole poem is so much like life. Really nice writing here. It's got a great overall feel that's affective.

This makes me feel as if life's journey is long and difficult but in the end.. it is only words.. I like that

I just imagined myself standing outside witnessing something that would break my heart... GREAT poetry!

This one has the energy of that storm, love the image of lighting those things unseen with the strike of the lightning. Missing you, glad to see you hanging about a bit. Of course, I have been pretty absent myself. Great job.
