REFRESHED

REFRESHED

A Poem by Eddie Phillips

Flesh upon flesh
Can't tingle a lover's soul
It offers no emotional satisfaction
For it is abridged and never whole
It gives only false supplementation
It’s just a salve for a fleeting need
Providing no depth of soul's immersion
It sates only tactual greed

I desire, to live in love's abandon
Beating within my lover’s heart
The subject of their passion
Like a artist to his art
I want to be their revelation
That known and spoken truth
Their tool of great elation
That will always find its use

I want to feel alive with passion
That goes beyond the flesh
I want to wake at the dawn of morning
in my lover’s arms; refreshed

It is awesome how waking in the arms of our loved one can make our world seem brighter despite the requirements of the day we face.
