A PLACE TO CALL HOME!

I wan't to finally feel at home!

I hate the country so much, you don't understand,

Living here for so long, wasn't what I had planed. 

Its so quite, it feels dead here, theres not one sound, 

Nothing here, but trees, local shops, theres nothing around. 

I yearn for the city, the traffic, the noise, the shops, 

Most people, hate it, but I hope it never stops. 

Because when im there at least the world is alive, 

I feel less depressed, and more happy when I arive. 

There's so much to do, many things to see,

When Im out in the city, I feel free. 

Night is even better, oh what a glorious sight, 

The buildings, and the whole city, all alight. 

My style, is fancy its just my taste, its what I like to wear, 

When im in the city, everyone dresses fancy, so I don't have to care.

Walking around like that in my town, I just look out of place, 

I don't fit in here at all, and you can see it on my face. 

When I get a job, and the cash comes rolling my way, 

I'll be out of here in no time, thats all I can say. 

Of to live with the boyfriend, In a place thats close to the city, 

the only thing im taking with me, is my beautiful darling kitty. 

Ill no longer be close to the city just to rome, 

I won't have to go back to the country, I'll finally be home!

Even with the sadness within it is a reverse of most work. I can understand the reaching for the city and the lights to keep the mind busy. Rather than the quiet, that gives you too many thoughts.

I was lucky once to have lived on an island in an island (go figure haha). It was secluded enough and had nature, yet was so close to the city just 20 minutes away by car or bus. So if I ever wanted a puff of the city, it was always a bus ride away. And then I had to move to be with hubby :P. I very much hope you find our have found the city of your dreams.

The grass is always greener....as they say. I can see your point about the country. I can also see your point about the city but I'll choose where you are myself. In the city you get to see corruption, drugs, people urinating on the streets as well as vomiting. The winters are so cold because the buildings act like wind tunnels. I live in a rural town and my next door neighbors have no consideration for anyone. As a result I get to hear 15 kids scream in the pool for 12 hours a day on the weekends. I think wherever you go it gets old.

I guess this is true for most people, Though i honestly don't think I would get over the city, and if I did, it would be better then where I am now at least.

Keep on working girl :) Where you live is just a dot on the map. There are sooo many other places and a lot of them are much less close minded. I have dreams of going to California. I live in the pretty far outside the city myself. It is peaceful.. But boring. I feel your pain.

Funny how we think. I lived in big cities in my youth. I wanted open range and small city. Today I live in a small city on the border of Detroit. I can have both. I do understand the need in the poetry. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

cimmy, a very nice piece, you definitely made it known what your plans are. It's funny, though; I was born, raised and lived most of my first 30 years in Pittsburgh, and I loved it. Now, as I've gotten older I live in Indiana, PA about 55 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. It's kind of rural (The sign as you're entering town says, "Welcome to Indiana, PA: The Christmas Tree Capital of the World" and it's slower but I love it, and I only have to drive 2 hours to see my son and grandchildren. So be careful what you wish for...Is the city an exciting place? Yes, but it has its drawbacks too. But I have a feeling wherever you end up will be a happy place for you! take care...dan

I can live with the downfalls of the city like areas, Ill be much more happy there then here.
