Hold the Sugar

Hold the Sugar

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Hold the Sugar

rising occasions

fermenting sunlight risks

the day,

undaunted recipients expect a place

on a page of musings

i sip a few seconds on the keys

tap my coffee cup for answers

the dawn breaks

and my mind espies a slight shadow

slipping through my fingers

another morning of possibility

unplugged

as i stare at the cream of coherence

that never lightened

the dark words that stuck in the throat

of near existence.

thank you for your words, lynn.

the brewing of thoughts that never see the light of day, except in the poet's mind...love the playing with words in the second stanza - sipping keys and tapping coffee cup... i guess there are some thoughts that cannot be sweetened or lightened... nicely-done, Jacob

thank you for your insights, FT,

Such a heavy write....so reflective. Early morning musings tend to be introspective and deep...this one proves my theory. The life opportunities that have escaped us loom when sleep evades us. Sitting at the computer with a cup of coffee and thinking.....it is not a good thing for me. Truth is, though, each morning IS a possibility. Sometimes we just can't see that. Such an honest write, Jacob. Lydi**
