when the sea of sentiment broke

when the sea of sentiment broke

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

when the sea of sentiment broke

i was drowning in incontinent

waters,

tears of delivery,

as i emerged from a womb of pain

a paradox of birth and romantic suicide

tenuous trust moribund

as eyes dried to the headstone

emotions buried in pools of dust

love decomposing like a symphony

played backwards at agonizingly slow speed

so each component of the heart

becomes a cliff's note

of uncompromising regret

as i lay flowers on my resolve

and memory myself into an umbilical

existence,

never to let go again.

Regrets come at the end and we cannot turn back the hands of time so when we make decisions, we should make sure that we won't regret and/or blame ourselves in the end. But it is also a reality that we are human and we often make mistakes. Yet we learn more from our mistakes so the next time we have to make a decision, it would be the best choice for our better life.
