A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

out and in

echoes of all the you's
that once were part of an "us"
dim morning light
thoughts of moons removed
clouds, the memories outside my window
the dusty glass converges
with the pane in my mind

i quit looking out,
years ago,
there are enough mirrors inside.

It's hard to think about the past, we could have not been in it again. Your words are powerful, I like it so much. Thank you for sharing.

Always my pleasure Jacob, truly...
beautiful! absolutely fine poetry ... words are precise ... nothing to add nor take away .. very fine poem in my mind! into the library it goes ... tending to wards the introverted side of us this speaks particularly well for me!

The mirror reflects what others see as so often we don't recognize that which is staring back at us. Windows are not only for looking out, but also for looking in as are the mirrors that line the wall of our minds. Great writing Jacob.

All the yous that were once a part of us... Beautifully captured Jacob. Where do all those facets go when the relationship ends? Locked up in storage until required to shine and dazzle the next unsuspecting participant?
There are enough memories elsewhere to drive you crazy. I used to think the worst of a relationship ending was not knowing how they were doing, but knowing wouldnt be any better.
As ever Jacob, superb wordery.

It's good to reflect upon ourselves for a while. The heart does love company...

This speaks to me of a deep profound look at memories.
Memories of reflections of ourselves through the window views of others.
Now through time passing we stop looking at the reflections through the mirrored window connection with others and now self reflect through ourselves.

there is a deep sadness yet freedom here. A journey now ventured solo.

Playing with the mind a bit here Jacob. I wonder what it could mean if we no longer look outside our own reflections? Does not seem a healthy state of mind.
Shut ins are really shut out.
Another very fine poem.
