Too Long

Too Long

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Too Long

in a drawer of my heart,

a keepsake thought of you,

the blaze in your eyes

on a silver chain of memory

the charm never tarnishes

but that drawer gets awfully hard to open

in time

when the tinder tenders

resignation of

self.

I felt the sadness and resignation in the narrator's voice and mind. Keep the blaze alive...:)..............

You are welcome...:).....................
I read this as its gets hard to look back on someone you loved ,opening wounds, hence the resistance until you finally acknowledge she's gone!

I like how this poem ends. For me...it shows great self-awareness and all that holds one back.
I like also the smaller font, and the line it quotes. as with all I have read of you so far, this poem could be taken in another way. There is more to you than meets the eye. Interesting and makes me look forward to
read other stuff of yours to see where you are really coming from. Enjoyed. And thank you for reviewing mine this morning. much appreciated.

Would we, or even coild we, get rid of those keepsakes of the heart. Life would be simpler without them, but less interesting too. They remind us of who we were then and who we are now, and now and again we learn from them too.
Wonderful and thought provoking words Jacob.

It's hard to get rid of those keepsakes, whether figuratively or in reality. They represent affect and senses of our lives. Can't we all relate to this one? :) lovely as always Jacob.
