toy boats and streams of consciousness

toy boats and streams of consciousness

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

toy boats and streams of consciousness

you came wrapped in treacherous smile

ribbons which paper cut my heart

the bleeding is profusely slow

and along the way, band aid relationships

have desensitized the pain,

but in the end band aids lose their grip

from years of tears

and that blood of not belonging

starts to re-flow like a creek

that longs to dry up,

rather than cascade into a damaging

flood

when it thinks of you.

'band-aid relationships' very true, excellent, relatable way of phrasing it. The creek imagery is equally effective, two very different metaphors (one human one natural) but work harmoniously. Nice write :)
