a landfill of unfulfilled love

a landfill of unfulfilled love

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a landfill of unfulfilled love

at the disposal site

the crane kept dropping pieces of a heart

on a pile of emotional rubble

a graveyard of tear stained boxes

unlabeled cans of caring

like unknown soldiers

finding a final camp ground

to pitch a tent of tentacled longing

just before the waste is bulldozed

and all of the memories

flatten,

like the pattern on a heart monitor

when the refuse

is refused for the very last time

and ceases to exist.

This is very touching and sad - to feel like refuse.
This screams a need for a recycling plan where something strong and useful can be made out of the flattened pieces of rubble.

OK, this literally brought me to tears. Because there is so much i can relate and the way you have presented this piece is truly art. So many metaphors used. I wanted to select the best lines, but this one truly every line has an impact on me and I can't help but love the poem as whole.
when the refuse is refused for the very last time and ceases to exist literally crushed me. I was even more immersed in this one than i normally am in your writes. Thank you for sharing ^^
