A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

back in touch

the old electric beckoned me

dusty carriage, uneven hum

poked at a key

click

another

click

and yet another

click click click

and those rusty inspirations

WD 40'd themselves

as the keys slammed against the sheets of white

like estranged lovers finding solace in each other's warmth

again

reliving the past,

even if just for one rollicking night

of memories.

Your window opened. It called me to sit quietly with my trusted pen and paper. It wanted me to write you a beautiful memo in real style. The kind without white static, blue screen, & plagiarized features. It wants me to tell you I know how your keys feel. How it is to tingle under your fingertips. The ink is intoxicating. The whispers from your thoughts smoothe. I hear you are an original....but then again, I already knew that! ☺kudos

I am guessing typewriters??? Funny to say in the least but I do wish to have a typewriter of my own. I remember my father having a typewriter in his office. Old, a little rusty but every time I used to visit I would hear those clicks. Almost made me think someone was playing an instrument. There's this certain charm I find when you are as using a typewriter. Makes me think one of those days where the computer isn't working and too lazy to pick up a pen, take out the typewriter and fill in a page or two ^^ Thank you for sharing ^^ Reminded me of fond memories ^^

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. I had a brief stint in typewriter repair, my accident forced me inside, and would dutifully type these words as I repaired a lot of Underwoods.

Love the sentiment!

I restored an old Imperial typewriter once. But my wife couldn't stand the noise. I couldn't afford the correction tapes. So yo would never have read this review of you nostalgic poem. WC inspired by Jacob's WD-40. Loved it.
