under the surface i am still smiling

under the surface i am still smiling

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

under the surface i am still smiling

quicksand heart

sinking in you, with you, and for you

don't offer me a branch to hold onto

i'd rather go down holding you

don't mind my gurgling as i go under

it's just love songs coming from murky lips

a kind of swan-dive melody of sorts

when i am completely gone

i will always be holding you

even if my dreams are submerged

in long ago embrace.

We've all been in this face of love, haven't we? Wonderful read, painful and passionate, I love how it describes need for love rather than help, really amazing poetry!

thank you for your very kind words, Crimson_ish...

Bittersweet romance in this one, Jacob. Quicksand....yes, all emotions seem to slog through it whether they are romantic or grieving. "i'd rather go down holding you"......not saying a word, not a syllable! :) Innuendo in that line....or perhaps not intended at all. I liked this one. Lydi**

The depth of quicksand, a smile in its darkness and yet the light of memory rendering a murky song. Love in the depths for sure.

Something of the humorous in this, Jacob. Like: who's as happy as a fool for love?, or something like that...

A little quirky, perhaps, but a likeable poem here.

Thanks for sharing.
