Wild Horses

Wild Horses

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Wild Horses

his glass slipper met her midnight
and the carriage held but one

she danced away from his logic
and now the jack-o-lanterns flicker

memories in and out
the Ball is over,

and she's gone home
to someone else

he's still trying to catch a glimpse
of himself in her arms

before he forgot all the steps
before he
...forgot.

Those memories...as they flicker in and out, we somehow blot out the bad ones. We had a picture in our hearts and heads....one that we thought we last forever. Then time got in the way and the rest is history. Yup, we forget the steps....unfortunately. Lydi**

thank you for your words, Lydi...

Artie Shaw once wrote a book called "The Trouble With Cinderella", coming to the conclusion that pretty much no one lives happily ever after--and so this, as our decidedly non-Disney lives rarely come with convenient glass footwear. You have tightly encapsulated the less well-shod reality.
