Never after

Never after

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Never after

Cinderella's swollen ankle

broken slipper

the horses break for eternity

at a cantor

her pumpkin overripe

spatters into shards---

her sisters' revenge

an evil sibling gets the prince

he is dumbfounded and naïve

the quiet sweetheart

keeps sweeping up the remnants

of her fractured heart.

I love that you gave a spin to the Cinderella fable... just a suggestion... I would continue with it... it sounds like it's incomplete and a bit rushed, you can add details and really make it a lovely piece

What?- "Never after?" My girlhood dreams up in smoke!..."an evil sibling gets the prince" and the fairy tale is "fractured"! Sssshhhhhh! Don't tell the kids...or Disney! Ha- ingenious!

What have you done, Jacob. Kids are running about screaming now. Lies have been told in this fairy tale.
Told them to man up. Though i maybe dropped hints to your whereabouts.

A fun play on words and, who knows, perhaps a more realistic take on the old fairy tale. Reminds me of African refugee stories I've heard.

thank you for your words, Zeitnot..

this is a wonderful, original twisted and way more realistic/relatable take of the oh so famous "ever after" ---
i adore the slightly macrabe
imagery weaved within this
ink.

thank you for sharing

you're most welcome, jacob, it was my
pleasure :)
It always seems like the lovingly innocent suffer at the hands of the ever scheming. The quiet sweetheart suffers in silence, ever-loving, ever-sad.
