just me and a few words packed in my U-Haul

just me and a few words packed in my U-Haul

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

just me and a few words packed in my U-Haul

sinister patches of black tar

a roadway of eternal sink holes

the wonder of future

the wonder of you

romance me away from this rock

moss is growing under my poetry

the ink in ebony dress

levity is the broken line in the middle

of the interstate,

but my state of mind never passes you

i just hang back, hang-dog expression

eclipsed vision

the sun is a fox chased by the hounds of cumulus

even the Beat poets would think their poems cheerful

compared to taxi driver poets who get jumped

in their cabs with random tips--

most saying "give up, the world has no exit ramp for this"

Robert Creeley has a patch over both eyes now,

Plath is dying to stay in the institution

even Sexton thinks she wants a two car garage

keep your motor running people

because others are shooting off their motor mouths

and exhausting the tolls

too expensive to drive the keyboards

the wonder of future

the wonder of you

put me in a trunk with the old keepsakes

and letters from Sylvia

and the poems Sexton wrote when she was good

ask Robert to come home

even with the patches

he might be able to see

what we are missing---

Stop signs pleading

to us to put a brake to the madness.

Yes, never doubt your own wisdom and self belief, for who are they to judge if conditioned by the masses?

Riveting poetry Jacob, its all to easy to write by simply copying the alphabet, but to make those letters take shape and form, espouses individually and charisma, surperb as always my friend!

"romance me away from this rock
moss is growing under my poetry"
Outstanding lines, even to this neophyte. I enjoyed this immensely and impressed myself with how quickly I grasped the intent, but that is due the author's expertise.

Waiting for the sun Joe.
Christ this is December.
Still waiting Joe.
Like poems like this. Someday we'll conquer the world. Maybe not today though. Mummy's making apple pie. Do we leave the madness of the world, or does the world leave us. I'll ask a taxi driver. They know all.

yes, ask that Taxi Driver and let me know what he or she says....thanks, Paul.

I can relate so well to your metaphor of racing along a poetic track, only to find a sinkhole that causes you to swerve from your original path. I am on that route at present. I think my engine and steering need a refit.

Ah, you youngsters are so kind..
Making money writing poetry is few and far between but it doesn't mean we stop. I love the use of the interstate and road in this poem and the poets.

WOW! WOW! And WOW! This is brilliant! Too many amazing extended metaphors to tally! I was picturing the whole thing as I read with your awesome imagery. Definitely one of your best that I've read so far! (Yippee! Hittin' the road now!)
