new currency of old love

new currency of old love

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

new currency of old love

in the substantial woods

of my inner sanctum

the foliage protects my vital interests

and keeps a sane balance in my account

i find the red maples remind me of deficits

in spending time with you,

as autumn arrives in its interim

and then the barren investment that is winter

overdraws what emotions i have left

because i have become dense in autonomy

and fail to feel the breeze

that sifts through me

with such minted memories of you.

dear Jacob... the red maples “being in the ‘red” ... how about the term “green backs” ? ! Now I am on a Roll.... Very clever... As ever, Pat

Wow! What an original idea. The romance bank compared to winter. Invest in the spring of love with all its foliage to find the winter of cold emotions and barreness. I guess the account has been closed and this bank no longer in business. Marvelous writing sir Jacob.

Know That I Too
We are never alone (a poem for mental health month)
really like the opening two lines ... vulnerable and open invitation into a very private, cherished place ... the red maples line surprised me ..never a deficit says i! but the next line clarifies understanding .. alas..winter does come ;( your speakers confession is perhaps a brutal honesty "... i have become dense in autonomy" .. sad ...but some memories also console us

Feels as if we are walking in each others prints in snow.
Love immured,in mind
In soul .
Your poetry is a testament to the joys of writing and experience itself.

I like the use of Autumn to make the poem understandable to the reader.
"as autumn arrives in its interim

Great use of description for the turning of Winter. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.
