A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

etcetera, etcetera, etcetera

in the afterlife

of now,

very much alive people

in dead trances

walk upon a square earth

banging into equator walls

looking for the edges

with crazy notions

of a reality

that has been given anesthesia

and told to stay asleep

let's all graze in the field

with the herd,

cows who follow one another

to death

the poison tongues

chew demented cud

we all pick our stanchion

squeeze our heads into the mentality

get milked of opinion

brainwashed of reason

not very alive people

in completely dead trances

at least cows do lie down

when they sense rain.

Obviously, cows don't know enough to come in out of the rain.
Whenever individuals fail to think for themselves, the group death march begins.
Striking poetry, Jacob--a warning, unfortunately, that can only be heard
by those who don't need it.

Fake news, a world of instability, and what sheep will follow what shepherd is the question. This was nicely executed J.

Indeed the world has gone mad. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such wide spread division, which is perhaps the most frightening part. I think our experience here in Aus is quite different to those in the rest of the world, here in Victoria many are in uproar about the loss of their freedom that has been exchanged for suppression of the virus which I think is perhaps the opposite of what you are writing about here? Are you in the US Jacob?

I am not following the herd. It is an absolute travesty, that so many people will be sacrificed by adopting this policy. A responsible and caring society should protect the elderly, the sick and the vulnerable. If everyone practiced social distancing we wouldn't be having to suffer the number of deaths that are now taking place. Over here it is blatantly obvious that in general our young people are adopting a selfish attitude. Maybe it won't hit home until they have lost parents or grandparents. I,m afraid, it makes me cross particularly when I think of the sacrifices that young people made during the past generations. I mean having to sacrifice partying during freshers week doesn't seem to much to ask does it? Great write Jacob, got me really wound up.

This metaphorical gem makes me think about how we all stand by as our futures are prescribed and dictated and attrocities are carried out. It speaks to me of the duplicity of politics and the propensity for people to abdicate responsibility for policing our worlds.
