a new depression

a new depression

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a new depression

burly billowing dreams

huge turnover

firings of feelings

take home pay a severed heart

there is no pink slip

just a blue title

a gray memory incentive

to pound the pavement

search for a new position

love is getting scarce

in this poor economy

where emotions are unfairly taxed.

Being accepting of the times we are now in! Emotions can be quite raw because of the uncertainties we now face. "What's left for me of days that used to be?" Splendid piece Jacob. Thank you!

thank you for your kind words, kitty,

Indeed the opportunity costs, the unintended consequences of 'lockdowns'. Here in the UK it is estimated that 6000 small businesses will fold and 16million more will be unemployed. Nicely put in your exact and considered English language Jacob.

There's a lot of emotions in these few stanzas that I can feel very clearly. Nice poetic language deep realistic concerns. Tyfs
