in need of repair

in need of repair

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

in need of repair

the news shattered

my tv screen

wretched stories

a montage

of grief,

of dissent

of unnatural disasters

life

life without borders

life with borders

antagonists filling headlines

while protagonists weep at home

and the words seep deep

below the skin of resistance

America's tube blew out

darkness emerged from the fried box

of disappointment

and we all sat in the dark

with question mark faces.

so well said and so truthful, this world in which we all live in is going to hell. It is just sad, this world we live in, i keep hoping it will get better soon but it isn't.

Nicely expressed are your words, as I think of one catastrophe after another happening in our world today. You cannot turn it on without some American tragedy happening. ;-

Cannot help but think there was a time when we only had 3 main tv stations and a party line ... no constant bombardment coming at ya 24/7.
My kids and grandkids think the world is on the brink of destroying itself ... I tell them to turn off their cell phones and take a break from the internet and you'll be surprised how things change.
Where's Uncle Walter when you need him?

Not sure if my face would be a question mark or just one of disgust at the way things are working out.

PS ... you and Chris may need a set designer for this flick. Sign me up.

What a thought. A blow out. Can you imagine the peace and quiet? Empty screens, a stop to the continual drip feed of aggravating news that comes our way day and night on both mobile phones and TV. That's enough to make us oldies sit up and smile. You have the plot for a movie here J.

Why not J. Now that would be fun. Two oldies working together :)
Well written and a thought to ponder. --- Such as the coming day when a solar flare takes out all the satellites and connect-ability is nothing but a distant memory. ... wait, except for those with land lines. ... Ah well, I shall be gone by then, but not too soon to have pondered this little treat. --- Thanks!

I still have only a landline, no cell phone, so I might still connect....thank you for that, JE.

I imagine if the b**b tube did blow out, most Americans would sit there with question mark faces. They couldn't think their way out of a paper bag. Instead they would wait for someone else to do it for them, or sue the bag for illegal confinement. This cuts through the crap spewed by talking heads morning, noon and night. And I love it!

Hi Jacob, I love the content of this write. This world is indeed in need of repair and so are many of the people. It seems that the only news these days is bad news. I am definitely one of those with a question mark face. I can't understand how we got into such a mess. As always, Jacob, you write a powerful piece of poetry that hits home. Have a wonderful Friday....Mike.
