Bank Holiday

Bank Holiday

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Bank Holiday

cleared fortunes

heirs to heartbreak

millions in pain

they fight over the will to move on

when obstacles

seem counterfeit

and life is an empty vault

we all loved you,

now we are prodigal

missing hearts

a family in disarray

why did you leave us this way?

mountains of debt

tears in arrears

you smile at the clerks in heaven

while the janitor hangs a closed sign

on our prayers.

Gee
Can so relate to this with the premature passing of the beautiful Deb in August.
Death can be more painful than we ever could've imagined.
Good morning Jacob

Yes it surely can...and I, again, am sorry for your loss, Gee.

"they fight over the will to move on." If you lop off the last three words, I believe you have the key to a real situation. It appears a family member has died and left the survivors in debt, unless the description is metaphorical. The departed was apparently beloved, but now those left behind are suffering.

Yes, to your last two sentences, my friend.

It is always interesting how family, and sometimes friends, react after a death. Many are long on advice and short on monetary help, unless there are funds to be doled out. LOL

Reminds me of Poker ♣️ ♦️ ♥️ when the Joker smiles… a 💋 Kiss on a Misty Day. Foreclosure of a Will with Debts and depths of the Sea… gently, Pat

The questions left behind... Chiefly why? A piece of our jigsaw puzzle lost, the picture forever incomplete. Grief seems to be common in poetry. Well written.

I agree that it is M.J.
thank you,

The term of the title was reminiscent of British terminology and it seems to denote the loss of a beloved figure or loved one. My first thought was the death of Charlie Watts.
