EventuallyA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoEventually i was the star, you were manifest destiny revealed i shot towards earth you annihilated for ego's sake what you borrowed became yours not legally but with fervor you said goodbye to those who welcomed you inferior hosts said you and then made everyone else in your own image blink, the star is gone North America in shreds Don't tread through the burial ground they already have their dead faces turned towards you the star disintegrated its efforts the moon agreed a bad light for dreams when no conscience is illuminated who are the children now? in what galaxy are they better off is starting over worth the lessons learned? Lady Liberty built on false pretense we are all tired and weary and hungry for acceptance everyone doesn't have to be like us just equals in the stratosphere of life, liberty and the pursuit of a place to rest at the end where no one is a stranger. erin-cilberto 2/6/22 © 2022 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
