The King

The King

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

The King

on a dark night in Tupelo,
under a star's radar,
someone born is unborn
a twin arrives alone
crying melodic blues as he emerges
gyrating from womb to stage
a scarf of tears in his voice

Ah! Elvis. Always chasing the ghost of his twin. And enjoying fried peanut butter and 'nanner sammitches! This is such a nice tribute. A whole voice of a generation condensed into a few lines.

Most definitely, Cilberto
This sounds like it was written for a slam held in the Village circa ‘61.
