the last two minutes

the last two minutes

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the last two minutes
it's a flagrant foul
worth a technical
for the push towards my heart
and then the blocked love
I tried to come down your lane
but you held me
with your smile
then walked
an uneven game
a swish of feelings
but they don't count
when the recipient
goal tends.

Barriers are usually put up for a reason , but teasing is not playing a fair game..

There is no winner here. The metaphor is clever. Someone is defending their corner well. The striker isn’t going to be lucky. This poem makes me think of unrequited love. That sucks and is tough on the emotions of the one who wants more.
