This should be the dictionary definition and cautionary warning of love, which becomes so addictive until realisation dawns that oh so few win in this game.

Heavy with bitterness, this one. The speaker has apparently severed all contact with one was once deeply cared for. It must have been an extremely harsh breakup. We must wonder if the breech was ever healed.

I appreciate your insights and how spot on they are.

Seems love is not always a many splendoured thing. Is not meaning to want more but take less.. both at the same time. Or the complete opposite. In other words love can't be perfection.. because saints are rare!
Your words are always an adventure, one just has to pause for a while and ponder.. one of my fave words!

Sami's words below, "no white flags", was something I thought as I read this poem, Jacob. While I think it is possible to give up on things, somethings, I also think/hope that this is temporary. And that our hearts often take us to places we once dared not go again. I think this is true both in matters of love, and in society as a whole.

The use of opposites strengthens this wonderfully worded poem that speaks to the heart and from it. It's charm lies in the commonality all readers will have to what it speaks and the wording that make the mind think and at the same time catches it in paradox. It catches the defiant mind off guard and using judo uses the minds own power against it. Very nicely worded Jacob

Your response is better than the poem. Thank you for how you presented this theory, Soren.

(As per usual, my favorite part.)
There's something strange about apathy. . what once made you care so much that you have no reason to care anymore? It's horrible to feel nothing about things that once would have brought a spark to your eyes, or even a smile to your face. Sometimes I find myself feeling that way, world-weary. . but I suppose everything moves on anyway.
Thanks for writing this.

Beautiful exploration of the complexities of love and memory. The line "I love everything about nothing" is really interesting and suggests a deep sense of detachment. The contrast between "everything" and "nothing" in relation to the loved one is striking and suggests a change of feelings. There’s also a sense of jadedness or world-weariness, and a desire to move on from the past. As always, quietly complex ideas expressed beautifully.
