Nature Nurtures

Nature Nurtures

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

Just thinking about our poor planet

"
How nature nurtures us,
but ours is a symbiotic relationship
and we have failed our earth mother miserably.
Like a spoiled three year old,
thinking only of what we want,
not even considering
the ramifications  of our selfishness;
not seeing beyond the moment
and those moments
are usually filled with visions
of dollar signs
and large bank account balances,
because money rules our world,
only, mother earth didn't receive the memo.

no ...she sure didn't ...but she gets it all in the end ;) ... i see a hidden beauty in your poem Barbara .. and its the freedom we have to choose just how important money is to us ..we are unfortunately (for the most part) bound to it as the primo object of barter ... i suppose long ago we went to it out of convenience ... imagine how many chickens or pigs or cows it would take to buy just an old clunker .. at least two i imagine .. they don't fit well in ones pocket ;) this is a reminder we all need to hear and be reminded .. respect and honor for what she gives us all day, all night .. all the time!

And that yolo (you only live once) lifestyle is only making it worse. So many of my friends just litter without thinking of the ramifications. We aren't colonizing new worlds as of yet, we need to take care of our mother earth. And even if we were at that level of technology, that would mean we would go and destroy other planets for personal gain as well. For intelligent life we certainly can be thick headed. Great work, this is a very thought provoking piece.

Oh I know, it is ridiculous.
That very "who cares?" human activity that has negatively affected the globe and raised cases about "sustainability" and "sustainable development" at a global level were summed up in this GREEN piece. lovely and well put.

Nature is something that not everyone sees eye to eye with it, I will admit, I am one of those people but I still do think it is beyond beautiful.

I agree my friend. The gifts of nature is seen by the few. I tell people. Must separate real from useless things. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
