Xenomorphic

Xenomorphic

A Poem by James Paulin
"

Control

"
Previous Version
This is a previous version of Xenomorphic.

if I so choose, I have free will

to ponder heaven or just be still

control belongs within my hands

except those things called lifes' demands

as in time of war, to die or kill

I’ll have my way, so it will be

nothing stops me but destiny

strength of mind, a firm conviction

if I so choose

influenced by both prayer and sin

two voices chant from deep within

I hear them both I must confess

God help me to dark thoughts suppress

one rule of gold to examine

if I so choose

An insightful write full of truth about life.
It's hard to keep control of it all, sometimes.

Nice rhythm here. I enjoyed the story in this poem, very clear. I like the repetition of "If I so choose." It ties the verses together in the end.

Great fluidity on this one. I love the free-will vs obligation. This reads amazingly but has a powerful force behind it, great job.

a nice poem, yes life is about choices, we are - our choices.

I fear a prayer never helped, in the case of accident is religion is the safest.
