Revlieved And LuckyA Poem by AquaWriter
Previous Version This is a previous version of Revlieved And Lucky. Relieved and Lucky A sip of whiskey, A shot of rum, The strike of a match, The puff of a new cigarette He cuts the pill He snorts its “glory” He tries to cover it with a sob story. He has become jittery and racist, I become frightened, We are going to his home Mother drops us off He is taking me to my friend’s party on his can-am She leaves we are alone We go into his home Do you want some soda he ask No I reply. He lets in his dogs Big teddy bears I befriend his dog to protect me if he comes near I try my best to hide my fear The party started 30 minutes ago I’m feeling tense He sits on there on the couch And says there are a few bills to pay There are a million there. Minutes tick by I think something is up One hour later He is ready to leave I am reassured I will be okay He starts his bike The way he walk and moves around frightens me to death We get on the highway Finally we get to the party My body aches with pain My heart is pounding I have never felt so relieved and lucky. © 2011 AquaWriterAuthor's Note
