SEASONS OF THANKS

SEASONS OF THANKS

A Poem by forrestcook

Furrows lay plowed, so straight and even,
each seed planted deep in the soil.
Springtime awakens the sleeping earth,
and mankind now comes out to toil.

Soon we will see the tender growth
of new plants bursting into the light.
Birds that flew South in the autumn,
will once again come into sight.

Trees that stood barren in winter’s chill,
will blossom with leaves and flowers.
The heavens will fill up with clouds,
then sprinkle the earth with their showers.

Summer arrives, and the days grow long,
all of nature sings out with such glee.
Fireflies dance in the evening skies,
what a beautiful world we can see.

Too quickly we’ll find it’s harvest time,
as the leaves once again turn to gold.
Squirrels will scurry, gathering up nuts,
old man winter will bring back the cold.

Yet it matters not the season or time,
whether ‘tis the beginning or end;
we give thanks to our Father in heaven
for the blessing of family and friends.
