Ask A Butterfly

Ask A Butterfly

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Change being an inevitable part of life.

"

Life is merely like an elusive butterfly

it transforms us from enclosed prisons

to magnificent creature in but seconds

beauty of transformation cannot be overlooked

nor underestimated for it's charm and grace

Change is inevitable and a necessary function

there'd be no growth, no metamorphosis

life changing cycles is what proves us human

fighting this phenomenon proves fruitless

spreading the wings of growth and liberty is key

Now if my kindly flutterby friends would merely show

how easily it's accomplished we'd emerge from obscurity

holding their secrets of freedom close to the heart

imitations of the unrecognized trials we render relentlessly

we can but only learn from their unseen license to flourish

wonderful...in all aspects. it is mind provoking about life and what it does to us, how much it controls our deeds, if we are really free or we just follow what life gives us, if we can really get out of the prisons we put ourselves it and widen our borders to other areas of life...
it was very nice to make such similarity with a butterfly which we see it flying happily from a place to another and we see only this light part of its life but have we imagined the dangers it faces as a weak creature liable to any simple danger threatening its short life? there is always something deeper than what we can already see..
you have picked the words in a very nice way..
in short, wonderful poem..
thank you..

'You wear it well, a little old fashioned by thats alright...' Rod Stewart 1970's
You are indeed becoming a woman of many guises. Nice poem but the final stanza, which I LOVE seems to suggest we are helpless to take our own reincarnation in our own hands. Not always true just a different way of thinking Freida.

Thanks John, always an interesting twist from you. I wrote this from my deep rooted fear of 'change'.. read more

You my lady are so very welcome.
One of a different flavor, and I like this voice, you wear it well. Something we could take a lesson from, change is inevitable, but like my favorite quotes says, growth is optional...we must embrace the change and allow for transformation. Brilliant writing...

~ wow... this is a very profound and perceptive piece of poetry... i think i agree with all that you say here... we are all constantly evolving... constantly transforming... if we acknowledge the changes in us without being in denial and without obstructing them, we're likely to meet the flutterby sooner than even we expect and smile our hearts out even more... :)
