A tribute to Lee. x

Something inside me died

      when you took your life

you took part of me

           with you too

something so precious

              it bleeds my heart

part of you baby sister 

still lives on

reminders and memories

 though photographs and music

butterflies  a blue hue

              will always bring you home

you float by me on occasion

              and lift my heart

your brilliance still shines

 in their absence

yet every day I yearn for a hug,

 a touch

a sisterly glance 

            that only we knew

you were an extension of me

my younger self

           personified

you were the best of me

of all of us

A painted picture

               in my head

  I pen you a tribute

to honor you with poetry 

Now tears of memories

                 remain and overflow

your vibrant spirit

                keeps me in check

until I can truly touch

                 your heart again

Always remember.....

The emotion is so palpable in this piece, I wept. You give a beautiful tribute to your sister hear, and you remember her in such beautiful and vivid terms. There is such sadness and loss here, such a deep well. Through that space, you have preserved a part of her, and you show us how wonderful she was.

You have a lot of strength to write and share this piece. It is inspiring. You have made a lot of things clear to me in your writing that I can apply to my own life as well. I think I finally understand a lesson that I did not grasp before.

Wow Frieda :'( This was beautiful and for you to be the amazing person you are and write such sweet, wonderful words about your sister I can imagine what a gem of a person she must have been. I'm really happy you've found your voice through poetry to be able to let us all know how precious life is and how amazing people should be remembered through fine words. Nothing can ever replace the pain of loss, but know this that she love's you too, loves you to the moon and back.

She was like a rare diamond Kee. Lovely on the inside and out, she outshone everyone. Much nicer than me, we teased each other about who was 'bitchier', she'd always end with 'I learned from the best' Makes me smile to think of it now. *sigh*

Sweet Frieda!

The painting of your dear sister is absolutely stunning! The butterfly and the color blue just seems to fly off the image.

I am simply at a loss for how to express to you how much your words of her loss touch me!! May you be wrapped in a never unraveling blanket of love and comfort - one of cashmere softness, one that shall catch your tears, one that shall help heal you!!

My son, Jerry still struggles with the memory of his brother Chris, and admits it is difficult for him to be with me - see me, or talk with me by telephone as I am so much a reminder of his brother. This pains me, but I try to understand that it is only because they were so close! He feels guilty because he lived.

Sisters are close, and you speak of how she was an extension of you - that is a very close bond!! I am so very sorry you have lost her in such a tragic way!! How do we possibly make any sense of it, except that she could no longer endure the pain of life!

I send an abundance of warm hugs for you!!!!

She was absolutely stunning Shelia, her picture doesn't do her justice in all honesty, you can't see her inner beauty. To have known her was to love her, she touched everyone's heart. When she was laid out to rest, the line was around two blocks and we had to have an extra night showing. Morbid to think of it, I know, but just goes to show how many people's lives she actually touched. Thank you so much, I'm overwhelmed by the support and kindness here, by you and countless other's.

well, you have managed to make me reflect upon those loved ones who have passed, and i even thought about my ex wife....this poem is a beautiful homage to your sister and i am positive that she is standing right beside you, beaming with pride. well done, poet!

I guess that's what brought me to write this piece in the first place quin, between my friend being in a coma, and today is the anniversary of a good friend of mine who also committed suicide, it brought me to that reflective place of so many I've lost but none so tragically as these losses. It's a year for Pete and over 3 1/2 for my sister and the pain is as sharp as when it happened, yet they seem gone for so long. Thank you for your heartfelt words.

That's what I've been told by some Moon, it's an act of courage going out your own way, but it leaves behind such destruction and only transfers the pain to those left behind. Thank you for your kind words.
