One & the Same

One & the Same

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Humanity in us all....

"
What do we really know
                of our fellow man
can we see beyond
               the elegant facade
are we aware of his mission
his strife
when one is sardonic,
               illogical or bereft
do we turn away
or can we feel their pain?

We all live
in our own little salty cocoons
        not all are privy
              to our secrets & sacrifices
   taken into consideration
            when times are bad
put on a smiling front
                     or shoot someone down
it all comes from a place
                   we keep deep within

Keep in mind
               everyone is living
 in their own moment
we are all one and the same,
                                yet very different
the villain, the hero,
                     the person next to you
       differing temperature scopes
we all bleed red and blue

 look past the caustic scars

'let kindness be our fortitude'

 ~let humanity in~

I like this poem. I try to cut people some slack, when they are rude to me because you just never know what they are going through. By the same token, I have hoped for the same from others, thinking, oh, please, if you knew what was happening in my life! But then I think I am asking for special treatment. A lot of women are that way, they will be nicer to others than themselves! This is a subject not written about often and you did a great job with it!

we see what others allow and no more. It is wrong to probe and very dangerous, open pandoras box mmm nope traveled that path..... Some speak of compassion, a skill hard to master, yet none speak of empathy an extremely powerful tool.. never sympathy as its self serving.. here ends the lesson

Thanks John.
i don't think we let the person sitting next to us in enough.

i find people enjoy being around others, only when the "others"

are being bunches of fun...but the darker side of people...the trials, the tribulations, the painful moments...we don't share those enough..we aren't there for them enough...

we want only the good side...

when we greet people and say "how are you?"

do we really want an honest answer...or just "fine how are you?"

if only we would step back and put ourselves in someone else's shoes when we have differences we would remember that a lot of our actions are based on how we are raise and the environment we live in and just because we don't agree doesn't mean either is wrong. Compassion is a most divine attribute. A very profound poem.

That's why you're one of the good guys :-)

When you're not pulling my hair anyway!
Love. This is the essence of all the great religions in the world, in four letters.

You emphasized wonderfully, the need for empathy and emotional intelligence for humanity to grow.

Thank you for sharing this...

Thanks for your thoughts Divya...
how nice would it be for everyone to take in their surroundings and exhale humanity?

I love that Annabelle, why didn't I think of it? 'exhale humanity'!
Very timely reading, given what I am going through at the moment with an "adult" son ! Thanks for the writing, even if you didn't realize how applicable it may be to a stranger (me).... Thank you .

Best thing I've read on wc till date.. WOW.. there's so much darkness inside human that the little light they have to shine gets consumed as well, but if we found a way to connect all our light together I bet we would get rid of the darkness that clouds humanity. Your poem gives out such a powerful message and makes me hope for a brighter tomorrow..I wish people realized. < 3

Wow Kee, you humble me with your words.
I believe Buddha said it best..."Have compassion for all beings, rich and poor alike, each has their suffering. Some suffer too much, others, too little." Really great write Frieda...=)

Looks like I showed up unfashionably late to the party and all of the good adjectives have already been chosen xD

Good thing it's a BYOA party...This piece is profoundly reverberant...exceptionally abstruse and illuminating...thank you so much for sharing this...
