One & the Same

One & the Same

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Humanity in us all....

"
What do we really know
                of our fellow man
can we see beyond
               the elegant facade
are we aware of his mission
his strife
when one is sardonic,
               illogical or bereft
do we turn away
or can we feel their pain?

We all live
in our own little salty cocoons
        not all are privy
              to our secrets & sacrifices
   taken into consideration
            when times are bad
put on a smiling front
                     or shoot someone down
it all comes from a place
                   we keep deep within

Keep in mind
               everyone is living
 in their own moment
we are all one and the same,
                                yet very different
the villain, the hero,
                     the person next to you
       differing temperature scopes
we all bleed red and blue

 look past the caustic scars

'let kindness be our fortitude'

 ~let humanity in~

I like this poem. I try to cut people some slack, when they are rude to me because you just never know what they are going through. By the same token, I have hoped for the same from others, thinking, oh, please, if you knew what was happening in my life! But then I think I am asking for special treatment. A lot of women are that way, they will be nicer to others than themselves! This is a subject not written about often and you did a great job with it!

LOL true true....if only, right? ;-)
If we could all see the Divinity in each other, like your poem points out so well, then humanity would be a much improved expression of creation.
Until then... We can love even those who do love in return.
Well penned today!

One of your more philosophical pieces...a firm statement on the duality of human beings and our ability to generate joy and sorrow in equal measure...nice work Frieda :)

Indeed we all live in our silos perceiving the other as a threat, yet we all the same . There for the grace of God... Empathy is key. Powerful and thought provoking write.

a big heart for sure! :) or at least i try too your welcome :)
I was lucky. I served with President Bill Clinton for 8 years. He send my units to Bosnian, Africa and Asia on food missions. We brought water, food and medicine. We built schools and hospitals. We create lifetime friendship and open doors to new friendships. When a nation doesn't seek new friendship. War is the goal. We become not human. I wish the leaders in our land learn. Gift of kindness can open the doors to forgiveness and peace. I pray for the day when we get a leader of peace and logic again. Thank you for the outstanding poem. Made me think.

i have always maintained that things like road rage, spree killings and muggings are all directly related to how someone has been perceived by others and their subsequent actions. humanity will never outgrow suffering until we all live to understand and love and accept, for we are all the same being. there is so little patience and tolerance in this world. you have captured this beautifully in this poignant and inspired write. sorry for the rant.

What a longing whisper to unveil the forms behind the masks and cloaks that we all live in... shells of form that few but poets ever truly reveal... May we learn to look past the cocoons... So brilliant, dear poet.

Thanks Craig, always nice to hear from you.
Live and let live, look beyond the outer layers, the masks and know that something you may not expect lives inside.
Very cool Frieda and a great message.
