Pandora's Predickament

Pandora's Predickament

A Poem by Frieda P
"

satire, tongue in cheek (mostly) ;-)

"

Pandora; created as a punishment to mankind
beautifully evil,  she was created from clay
Aphrodite adorned her with perfect feminity
Athena taught her crafts to keep her busy
Orders from Zeus to Hermes stated he teach her deceit
to be stubborn and curious as the most zealous of women
They bestowed her with a pithos, filled with special gifts
yet forbidden to open it for any reason, on any occasion
As you know, the story goes, she opened the box~
evil and illness spewed forth with a vengeance
The moral:  man nor gods can expect to bestow upon woman a box...
fill it with evil and expect there be

 peace on earth.

Pandora's one of the old tales I tell girls on first dates. So is Adonis, Narcissus and Echo, Eros and Psyche, Demeter, Hades and Persephone, Aries and Aphrodite, Dionysus and several other myths I can mix and match. As long as their romantic everyone's entertained. Beats the crap out of bitching about work

Haha! This one's awesome :P I'm gonna share it with people. The first part had my attention, with the way you told the story, and the last part was the best

Glad you enjoyed it Mike.
If it hadn't been a box, might have been a crate .. and what then! Love your writes, seems you have special compensation from the gods of poetry, always a goodie at hand, knee or bumpsy daisy, Frieda. Don't know how you do it. There's a great deal more than a post about Pandora here: a touch or three of ancient history, attitude of mind and, I rather think, a grin or three! Wonderful!
