Punishable by Poetry

Punishable by Poetry

A Poem by Frieda P
"

'the wrath of a poet scorned'

"
What's behind these words,
     blood, sweat, tears
        heart & soul,
reaching into the vastness
 of perception and tangibility~
            swept away by pen
when you step on my emotions
          it leaves a scar
I surrender unto you my word
you steal them; it's broken trust
a betrayal punishable by the law of poets
we spew back in poetry with assasination
until the dirty deed comes undone
heed the warnings, they are everywhere

Do not tread lightly
upon the shadow I have cast
the dark side will eat you alive

love that ending I am shaking in my slippers
I am glad you published I was about to mail a whiny note of when..I was unpatiently waiting
thank you for telling them how it is how much it can hurt and the fact that the dark side will eat them alive

Well said- excellent write! Powerful- I really enjoy your style- you are an inspiration- but it doesn't mean that anyone should 'EVER' steal your words!!! 'a betrayal punishable by the law of poets' - Thank you for sharing your brilliant talent & for posting this!

You are a brilliant writer- the pleasure is all mine. Thank you.
I could recognize a Frieda P piece anywhere, no one can do what you do, they even dare try. For on the cafe you've got family and family looks out for each other, with words we'll tear apart any new pages in the book of plagiarism

Oi, where have you been hiding, I was sure the kimmer had you tucked away somewhere ;-)

This is a very good write and is supported by many here. I wasn't aware of a problem here at the cafe, though I'm not really surprised.

Yes, our work is individually ours. But anything can be stolen... sadly. That little copyright mark does add to the legality, but it isn't a savior for your words. It will keep an honest person honest... but not a dishonest one. And a person who claims work as their own, is a thief.
If it's serious enough to take to court, Pete's way does help. (A mailed, sealed envelope. Mailed to get a legal date on the envelope.) Though who here is going to go to court? Better we have a WC kangaroo court of our own and get rid of those who would claim work done by someone else as their own.
I almost never put anything up here first. Most of mine is written off site.

It is dated and timestamped and safely tucked away. There are also the ones I actually used pen and paper to create. They are also dated. Any of my work here may well be a second or third copy of the original.

Someone can still come along and claim them as their own. But, if push came to shove, they would have a hard time proving it.

Great write! Protect our children!

You CAN establish copyright of your stuff if you want piece of mind by sending a sealed copy of your work to yourself by registered mail. (You mustn`t open it!) It won`t guaranteee it not being stolen - but neither does publishing, I`m afraid. For music, there`s a thing called The Bern Convention - and I THINK there`s a corresponding convention somewhere for written word. Well done, by the way, Frieda!! P.

Sounds like a plan but I really doubt most poets do this...thanks Pete!

In my opinion, when you truly know a writer, you can tell whether what they have written is there own....people don't just change their writing styles and tones overnight!! You tell them Frieda, let them know the consequences of their wrong doings!!!

Hell. If this is true, I am pushing off from here. I would be grateful if u could tell me how you dealt with it and whether the message was conveyed to the culprit directly. Wonder if its anyone I know...

If ever it happened to me, I would not even know! It's that bad.

The message was convyed thru superb poetry. Thanks Frieda!

If any of my work has been stolen I wouldn't know of it. But I feel sorry for them because no matter how magnificent my work is, it won't give them the satisfaction that it gave me. For people like me whose primary language isn't English, every idea is an achievement, every great word is a firework, every poetry is a celebration. And no one can take that wonder away from us.

its just quite amazing Frieda that its merely words but how you work those words is unique , that someone would come and steal thoughts ideas and words is quite something . As Kelvin siad below there is a poets code . Good write until recently I did not know that plagiriasm existed on this site but it does .
