Dove Stew

Dove Stew

A Poem by Frieda P

Dove Stew
The sky paused in the madness
     whilst wounded hearts bled rainbows
beyond repair, the moon offered condolences
the sun shaded its eyes in despair
flashes of chances and regret traced the mind
blew up in their faces imploding colors of grey
no turning back clockwork's mechanical contrivance
eyes burnt out sullen in sorrow
a heart's blip of radar's chaos
nil remained, bar ought of onus &
                         fermenting sounds of fire

                               ...ultimately, infinite radio silence

I was in the Army for 15 years. We study the weapons of destruction. If you are lucky. Death would come quickly with a nuclear blast of any sort. The photo and the poem told a scary story. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

Yes that would be the only saving grace, to be the first to go, thanks John.

The use of elemental surfacing guiding the reader is perfection, well done, good read.

Thanks Thomas, much appreciated.
Very interesting piece here...I like the personification of the elements. Loved the rainbows beyond repair, as well as the flashes of chances and regret....some very nice lines in there. While I'm not generally given to apocalyptic pieces, this was truly well done.

We may not live to see it but I fear Oz will be blown to smithereens one day...
Sounds like Armageddon to moi!

There's so much sad resignation in this poem. Makes me think of the saying.. "it is what it is". Beautiful imagery as always...some killer Iines here. ;-) x
