Silenced Star

Silenced Star

A Poem by Frieda P
"

~more of a rant than poetry

"
Can't help if I'm brutally honest,
there was a lion in the sky the night I was born
the road I've traveled has many pitfulls of untruths and betrayal
when you trip over the injustices you tend to scream a little louder
smiles are sometimes redundant, tears without roses
for your sake or mine is yet to be determined
some nights I fancy vodka to soften the blow,
dont' judge me when you're not in the know
I'm soft and just as hard, brave
and I cringe at the sound of a baby's cries
cowering in the dark is evil, I know, it cornered me and called my name
silver linings are man's creation to hide the truth,
fairytales are fabrications of trying to downplay
life's brutal trials and the need to erase it
I see the truth in those silences that kept me a prisoner as a youth,
impostors that pretend to love but stone your heart for a shot in a cup of tea
Rhymes only make me angry to see you're hiding behind lowly cowardliness,
conflict, nor justice not an option written in your stars, what purpose does it serve
Which sign was hanging in the skies the night you were born,
it surely wasn't the scales of justice

Well, somebody's gotta be first to comment. -grin-

Nice rant!
Very clear and coherent on your points.

-sigh-

Read it again, hon and really pay attention to your words. You can't let the past dictate your future. You've got to let that go. Pack it away. There's enough going on in the present of your life. You don't need that extra baggage.
Just my thoughts, Frieda. Do with them as you will.
Happiness really does begin inside each of us. It gets muddled and hard to grasp when we are weighted down by things that have already transpired and can not be changed.

I think this is probably the best piece of yours I have read. Wow, I'm rendered almost speechless by it. The reality, the honesty, the tangible emotion. You've got it all here, my friend. Nothing to say, but this is going straight into my favorites.

Feel the vibrations
Which your words speak
As I am traveling down
A similar road.

In facing
My own deamons
From my life.

Where food has
Replaced the need
For alcohol
Eating myself
Sick.

As I sleepwalked
Through life
Cowering in fear
Like a little child
Again.

So
Please vent
Releasing your toxic emotions
In a safe and healing way
Dear Frieda.

Charged with uncontrollable electricity this is. Powerful and overwhelming. The pain is evident as is the anger pouring from each of these lines. We build walls to try and keep the ugliness out, but it always seems to find a way in through the tiniest cracks in the mortar. This was heart wrenching and hurt deep inside. Very nice my friend.

Fabulous zodiac references in this. An eloquent vent filled with impassioned images and emotions. We are trapped in our skins, sometimes our circumstances and often in our pasts. Purging these injustices can only help to soften the thorny path that we walk. Rough and raw this is.
