~Heart Dance~

~Heart Dance~

A Poem by Frieda P

then this great void appeared,
          I fell reluctantly into it
after the storm
there were no safe havens left
       just the quietude of nothingness
in that dark place appeared a light
        miniscule, like a candle flickering
bringing oxygen to this small place
           every second was imperceptible
albeit distinct, my thoughts subtle yet profound
in the shadows there were signs
 the illumination bestowed copious truth
I soaked it in with childlike radiant joy
jarring cacophony ceased, all that remained
was the sweetness of melodious  music
my heart sprung, floating light as a feather
                                         and it began to dance

Your poem ebbs and flows with hope. What we are given, and how we accept or reject it, is so very often based on our perceptions of the moment. The beauty is we can change how we see things and revel in the joy that the light brings to us. I love your word choices in this and as always your imagery is gorgeously fraught with meaning.

We should always hope for light in our darkness...music to soothe our pain and a heart that will dance again. Sounds much better when you say it of course!! Ha... xo

How very kind of you Mark, thanks so much for your visit.
Wow, I forgot how awesome your writing is. This was brilliant, I loved the flow, the format and the imagery. Just a heads up though, floating, in the second to last line, is misspelt. :P Thanks for sharing this piece.

Been unable to write and trying to sort out stuff in my head. Sorry for not being around.
all that remained

was the sweetness of melodious music

Can we ever hope for anything more? Your poem was sweet music to me this morning and it will remains with me always. Very nice Frieda, this piece feels happy.

Nice progression from the sadness of solitude to the joy of realising you are still alive. Liked the paradox of the candle light bringing oxegen rather than eating it up!
