A Poem by Frieda P

you are like opium, my drug of choice
when you arouse me i've no control

weaving metaphoric poppies through my hair
pulling tender tendrils to the fore

zephyrs of lively notes dancing on air
           playing whimsical flutterby melodies

whispering's from the ocean's depths
       ravaging heart strings
in dark rhythmic heat
as the wild beast that can't be tamed,
i get drunk on your elixir
sweet tonic to soothe the spirits

the stirring vibrations,
sweet love knots upon the breast

you dazzle my soul

truly beautiful...what imagery
i get drunk on your elixir-
reads of love and life
I admit I think of chasing the dragon when I read of opium- always wondered why they use that image with this
love that title and how you tied it in at the end

I can't tell you why but after I read this I couldn't stop thinking of Oscar Wilde.

Must be those opium dens you read about that they frequented in Victorian England love. ;-)

lol so true
There is something so invigorating and high high high, addiction and unreigned in excitement with that blossoming of new love... This captures all of those feelings in vivid deliciousness... I must be in a romantic mood or something cause this put a huge smile on my face...haha!!

So beautiful are your words my friend that I find myself suspended in a dream world each and every time I visit. With your poetry around there is no need for me to sleep for my dreams find me with my eyes wide open. This smile that I wear comes everytime your words flutterby. Very nice.

Another set of butterflies and they only live four weeks lol. Nice expressive use of metaphors in a colourful piece as always. Wow I am so impressed with 'Joisey'. Will be back soon!

Wooo, thanks Sera!
What wonderful imagery! And marvelous word choice. I loved the image of metaphorical poppies and then the aliteration of sweet tonic.... Also the balance between the wild beast and the sooth the spirits.

Very well done, balancing the twin desires and effects of pasion - the savage heat and the soothing peace.

Brava!
